7 polyphonic compositions for moulting
02.12.2022 -13.02.23
Exhibition
Leechquartier, Afroasiatisches Institut, Graz AT

An immersive exhibition, a multi-layered, multi-language offering in the form of a polyphonic spatial-sound composition, an audio-visual collage made from an equally immersive process of questioning and re-framing the ways we are in relation with ourselves; with our ancestors, with the land and with the waters. In this case, the Northern Limestone Alps, the Mürz and the Mur rivers. It is an offering, a ritual, a shedding process of getting rid of the dead skins in our bodies and our thoughts, it is an intuitive need for moulting.

It is the courage to do it together.

To bring all our vulnerable facets into the cracks and inhabit them for a while. To embark, together, into the not-knowing.

To loosen the grip of the myths and systems that have taught us separation—extractive and exploitative relations we have grown up within.

How do we make kin otherwise?
How do we, (up)rooted people, grow new roots and find ground elsewhere?
Can we synchronise, even for a moment, the flow of our inner and outer waters?

Can we fall in love with the Mur river—unconditionally—with its flowing, its grounding power, its constant becoming?
